“Fatty pepper dish with mackerel, simple and tasty recipe”
If you have never thought about how tasty the combination of bell pepper and mackerel is, I invite you to try this pepper and mackerel dish. It’s so simple, it’s ready in a maximum of 30 minutes. A hot mamaliguta is a dream with this dish. I didn’t have malai this time, I forgot to put it on the shopping list, so I fried some slices of rustic wholemeal bread with which I tasted the meal. Rainbow on the palate, as they say! The fried bread, soaked in the slightly sweet pepper sauce, was delicious!
Let’s see how to make this simple recipe with peppers and Lotka mackerel fillets!
Pepper dish with mackerel — Ingredients (2–4 people)
4 medium bell peppers (400 g after cleaning)
1 canned Lotka mackerel fillet, in sunflower oil (115 g)
1 tablespoon olive/sunflower oil
1 clove of garlic
1 small white onion
7–8 cherry tomatoes
1 teaspoon of salted capers
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Bell pepper and fish dish — Step by step preparation
Clean the peppers from seeds and white filaments, then cut them into suitable strips. Finely chop the onion and garlic, cut the cherry tomatoes into quarters.
Put the oil in a non-stick pan, add the onion, garlic and capers and saute them for about 1 minute. Add the peppers and tomatoes cut in half and mix. Saute on low heat for about 6–7 minutes or until the peppers soften, then add the mackerel with the oil from the can. Let the pepper and mackerel stew for another 10 minutes on a low heat, season with salt and pepper to taste, then turn off the heat and serve it to your heart’s content. If you like, you can add a little chopped parsley to each plate. It gives it a wonderful taste!
It’s a simple, quick meal, with polenta or slices of fried bread, it’s incredibly tasty!
